Speaking up in meetings can be intimidating, especially if you're an introvert — but failing to make your voice heard at important moments could hurt your career. That's at least according to Juliette Han, a Harvard-trained neuroscientist and adjunct professor at Columbia Business School. There's a different "tried and true" trick to standing out at work without speaking up during meetings, says Han, who is also an academic advisor at Harvard medical school. This could include brainstorms, status-update meetings, problem-solving meetings or other important work conversations. Or, if someone posed a potential solution to a business challenge during a meeting, and you would recommend a different approach, outline your thoughts in the follow-up email, says Han.

We need this election to once and for all defeat MAGA and Trumpism, and send Donald Trump packing, if he is not in prison. Nicholas BuxtonNew YorkTo the Editor:Carlos Lozada writes: “Joe Biden versus Donald Trump is not the choice America wants. I would rather risk losing to a Nikki Haley than take the chance on beating Mr. Trump. Millions of people are yearning for an alternative to an octogenarian Joe Biden and to an existentially dangerous to our democracy Donald Trump. In a recent poll, a “generic” Democrat matched against Mr. Trump outperformed Joe Biden by more than 10 points.

At a meeting of the Muslim Girl Scouts of Astoria last week, a young woman bounded into the room, asking whether her fellow scouts had secured tickets to an Olivia Rodrigo concert. “It’s no conflict at all,” Ms. Rayan told me of Islam and the Girl Scouts. “You want a strong Muslim American girl.”At the Girl Scouts meeting, Amira and her friends discussed their plans to protest the war in Gaza. In 1948, Ms. Rayan told me, her grandfather lost his home and land in Jaffa to the state of Israel. Ms. Rayan said those killed in her family included six cousins and their children, who were as young as 2.

Tough Times for Men’s Wear? Designers Find a Workaround

You’ve maxed out your credit cards, asked your family for loans, begged vendors for favors, cajoled friends into sacrificing salaries to model for a day, and then suddenly it is New York Fashion Week and, with it, New York Men’s Day, the only chance some men’s wear designers will have to be seen. “What else could we do?” said Erin Hawker, the indefatigable publicist who first envisioned New York Men’s Day a decade ago. “We staged a peaceful protest on the sidewalk.”It’s Sinatra 101. What you also require, as it turns out, is Gandhian tactics and nerves of steel. The city backed off for a few hours, and 10 designers were briefly given their chance.

CNN —When the Perseverance rover landed on Mars in February 2021, it wasn’t alone. The instrument’s capabilities demonstrated that oxygen for life support systems and rocket fuel could be created on Mars rather than transported from Earth. The device is another tool enabling the eventual exploration of Mars by humans. Other worldsThis map of Mars, created by researchers at New York University Abu Dhabi, uses color photographs of the entire planet. That’s what researchers at New York University Abu Dhabi are aiming to do with the Mars Atlas.

The microwave-size device called MOXIE, or Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment, is on the Perseverance rover. The experiment kicked off more than two years ago, a few months after the rover landed on Mars. The instrument works by converting some of Mars’ plentiful carbon dioxide into oxygen. MOXIE works by dividing up carbon dioxide molecules, which include one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms. Lessons learned from the small MOXIE experiment can now be used to create a full-scale system that includes an oxygen generator that can also liquefy and store the oxygen.

Topo ChicoBottles of Topo Chico water. Tiffany Rose/Getty Images for GBK Brand BarTopo Chico became a nationally recognized brand after Coca-Cola acquired the company for $220 million in 2017. Its sparkling water got national distribution, and Coke rolled out a Topo Chico hard seltzer through a partnership with Molson Coors. But before all that, the brand was a favorite among consumers in Northern Mexico and, in the early 2000s, with Texans. The brand got its US start in Hispanic grocery stores, according to Gerardo Galván, a Topo Chico executive who helped with the brand's expansion.
Musk said in the meeting he wants to encrypt DMs for security and add voice and video chat functions. The creator of messaging app Signal, a former Twitter employee, could help with the plans, Musk said. Under the plans, DMs would be encrypted, meaning the text could only be read by participants, as is the case on platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal. Musk added that he had spoken with the creator of Signal, Moxie Marlinspike, an ex-Twitter employee, who is "potentially willing to help out" with encrypting Twitter DMs. In August, an ex-employee was found guilty of spying after passing Twitter users' information to Saudi Arabia, having been paid over $300,000 to do so.
Elon Musk has fired many lawyers but hired Alex Spiro for at least five cases, with a mixed record. But there's at least one lawyer who Musk seems to get along with: Alex Spiro. Spiro had been working behind the scenes for the billionaire when he was trying to buy Twitter. But they are hardly the "hardcore street fighters" Musk wants in a lawyer, according to a recent tweet of his. It's not clear how Spiro and Musk connected in the first place, but they seem to operate on the same wavelength.
A toaster-sized device called MOXIE is tucked inside NASA's Perseverance rover, which landed on Mars in 2021. NASA's Perseverance rover descends onto Mars, on February 18, 2021. The oxygen atoms then combine with each other to produce oxygen gas. MOXIE splits carbon dioxide into carbon monoxide and oxygen atoms, before the single oxygen atoms combine to make breathable oxygen. Researchers imagine a jumbo version of MOXIE, approximately 100 times larger, could produce oxygen at the same rate as several hundred trees.
